On 18th September, I walked in expecting a talk. I walked out with a new lens through which to see education, entrepreneurship, women’s empowerment and global collaboration. I had the privilege of attending a Sheconomy platform founded by the dynamic Dr. Harbeen Arora Rai. The session’s speaker, Dr. Sarifa Alonto Younes, spoke with such authenticity and conviction that every sentence felt like a truth bomb—simple, yet transformative. Her words didn’t just linger in the room; they etched themselves into my heart.
Education: The Great Equalizer
“Education will drag you out of misery. Education is the greatest equalizer.”
These words were not just a statement—they were a reminder that education is not a privilege but a necessity. Dr. Sarifa reminded us that one educated child has the potential to uplift an entire family. It is a multiplier, creating ripples of progress across generations.
In a world still marred by inequality, her words were a wake-up call: education isn’t charity; it’s empowerment. And investing in it isn’t optional—it’s our responsibility.
The Beauty of Obstacles
She spoke about challenges in a way that turned conventional thinking on its head. “Love your obstacles.”
Most of us are conditioned to avoid difficulties, to fear setbacks, and to mourn failures. But Dr. Sarifa reframed them as silent allies. Obstacles are not roadblocks; they are stepping stones. They teach us resilience, grit, and humility. They shape leaders.
It was a reminder that strength isn’t forged in comfort but in adversity.
When Women Come Together, Magic Happens
The session was a powerful ode to sisterhood. “When women come together, magic happens. Women multiply each other’s strength.”
History has shown us that women, when united, are an unstoppable force. From grassroots activism to global leadership, women lift each other higher. Dr. Sarifa reminded us that empowerment is never a solo journey. It is collective, and it is exponential.
In that moment, the room didn’t feel like an audience—it felt like a community.
Beyond Borders: Collaboration Without Walls
One of the most profound insights was about global collaboration. “Borders are not barriers—in fact, we can collaborate and create something unique across countries.”
This vision struck me deeply. We live in a time where technology has dissolved distances, yet we still allow invisible borders of culture, mindset, or politics to limit collaboration. Dr. Sarifa’s words were a call to break those walls, to create partnerships that transcend geography, and to build solutions that benefit humanity at large.
Purpose-Driven Entrepreneurship
As a business leader, one thought that resonated deeply was:
“When making a product, don’t just ask what was made. Ask—who was empowered? What cause was supported by its sale?”
This flips the traditional idea of business on its head. Success isn’t only about numbers; it’s about impact. A product is no longer just a commodity; it is a story, a voice, and a contribution. This philosophy transforms business from being transactional to transformational.
Farmers and Ministers: Equal Shapers of the Economy
Finally, she painted a picture of true inclusivity: “It is a great platform where a farmer and a minister come together, because they both shape the economy.”
This was perhaps the most striking reminder that progress isn’t created in silos. Real growth happens when every voice, from grassroots workers to policymakers, is valued. An economy thrives not just because of leadership at the top, but also because of the tireless efforts at the foundation.
My Takeaway: Seeds of Change
As I left the session, I realized this wasn’t just an event—it was a moment of awakening. Dr. Sarifa’s words weren’t just powerful; they were seeds. Seeds of thought, seeds of change, and seeds of collective action.
I came away with three core reflections:
- Education transforms more than individuals—it transforms societies.
- Obstacles are blessings in disguise; they are our teachers.
- True empowerment lies in collaboration—across women, across borders, across classes.
Yesterday, I didn’t just attend a session. I witnessed wisdom turn into a movement. And I left with a renewed sense of purpose: to ensure that whatever I create, whether in business or life, empowers, uplifts, and inspires.
✨ “When women come together, magic happens.”
Yesterday, I didn’t just hear these words. I felt them.
